Over on Justin Woolley’s blog I’ve written a post on the top five fantasy books that have inspired me.
If you’ve got the time, take a peek. It’s worth the read, I promise!
Justin’s a great guy with a new novel out: A Town Called Dust.

Thanks Chris and Justin. I have a vague memory of liking ‘The Clan of the Cave Bear’. I must have read it along time ago! I’ve not long finished ‘The Name of the Wind’, author Patrick Rothfuss. If you’ve read it, I’d be interested in your thoughts. I’ll check out Justin’s book too.
Hi Francine, Chris has some terrific picks in that blog post. I think ‘The Name of the Wind’ is fantastic, a really well-crafted and interesting world. It would probably go on my own top 5 fantasy list, at least at the moment! Have you got onto the sequel yet ‘Wise Man’s Fear’?
And thanks so much for checking out my book, I really appreciate it and hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for checking it out Francine. Clan of the Cave Bear was wonderful in it’s day and really inspired me, but I’ll confess to revisiting it recently and being shocked at the head-hopping and huge passages of ‘telling’. I guess they’re merely my ‘writerly’ views about a book written in a different time with different values.
